Unfound

GC Trails Posted on September 13, 2026 by das3401September 13, 2026

Since I hike, kayak, and snowshoe to a number of hard-to-get-to places, putting a new geocache out in those spots will mean few visitors.    If the goal is to have as many as possible, placing park and find caches will result in more attempts, especially if placed closer to a City.   But if placing a cache in a more unique spot, one that has value in the journey and in arriving at the destination, a remote placement is another option.     A few of my geocaches are placed in such spots, but as yet have not been found (possibly not even considered).

  • Red Islet – placed on a small island at the north end of Red Lake.    Best access is from the Red Lake Recreation Site.   Since there are more caches nearby, a geocacher can paddle to this one and get more on foot on the road in and out.   But I doubt it will be found in 2026.

  • Eagles View – this cache requires paddling up Clearwater Lake for 6 km, then hiking to a high viewpoint and back (3 km).    This may be unvisited for a while.

  • Not Stumped – I expect this to be visited in the fall.    On the east side of Stump Lake.

  • Old Dreams – In an area that is frequented by hikers, but it is up a steep hill so it will likely not have many visitors.

  • Lower Embleton Trail – On one of the many Mt. Embleton Trails, but one that is less hiked.    A short uphill hike to the spot.    Likely to be visited this fall.

  • Heffley Point – a marine access cache on the south shore of Heffley Lake so it will be unlikely to have visitors until 2027, and even then not many.

  • Tod Lake – hidden by the lake at the end of an alpine hike, but since the chairlift-assist hiking season is close to over, it may not be found until 2027.

  • Shale Beach – a marine access cache on a beach on Adams Lake.     It is about a half hour paddle or a quicker motorboat journey up the lake from Bush Creek.    Unlikely to be found in 2026.

  • Phalakasana – attempts were made, but the coordinates needed to be adjusted.    I hiked out to the spot and updated the listing so I expect it to see a visit in 2026.

Nine caches not yet visited, but I expect half to see visitors this year.     A couple will have rare attempts.    More are coming though….

GC Trails

GC Trails is a (new) low-key blog on geocaching in the Kamloops area (and beyond).    Weekly posts will feature outings, observations, explorations, opinions, and finds on the trails.    The word “trails” is featured since almost all geocaching will be done by hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, or exploring nature trails.

As someone who also has placed geocaches, some may be featured/shared.

Thanks for visiting the site.

Featured here is a photo from a geocache I enjoyed on a hidden trail near Lac le Jeune – Pines and Paws – #2 – Elbows Up
